BREEDING FOR THE LONGTAILS

Left and below are two images of modern Phoenix and an image of the older German Pheonix lines crossed with Modern English Game, showing the foresighted direction in breeding that Mr Rolf Ismer undertook in the 1980s. The longer, more slender body form, with longer and more elegant neck and leg were indeed positive additions to our breed.

Our Phoenix should evoke a pheasant-like impression in terms of length and elegance. The lengthening of the feathers should also coincide with the lengthening of the body: leg, neck and back.
